Meet Dr. Fuerst
David Fuerst, MD is a prominent ophthalmic surgeon who has been performing refractive, corneal, and cataract surgery for over 20 years. He is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and a respected consultant and educator.
Dr. Fuerst received his Sc. B. (1975) and MD (1978) degrees from Brown University. He interned at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center and completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Eye and Ear Infirmary of the University of Illinois. He was awarded a fellowship in corneal surgery and external eye disease at the University of California, San Francisco. He was named Director of the Corneal Service at White Memorial Medical Center, where he also served as ophthalmology residency program director. Dr. Fuerst has published several scientific papers, contributed to ophthalmic textbooks, and has trained residents and fellows in ophthalmology.
Dr. Fuerst is an active advocate for California ophthalmologists and their patients. Dr. Fuerst served as President of the California Academy of Ophthalmology (CAO) in 2003. He has also served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CAO and is on the Board of Directors.

Dr. Fuerst performs ophthalmic surgery at the San Gabriel Valley Surgery Center, Glendale Eye Surgery Center, and White Memorial Medical Center. Laser refractive procedures are performed at Laser Eye Associates in the Mark Goodson Building of Cedars Sinai Medical Center and at Glendale Eye Medical Group. All of these facilities provide excellent care and have state-of-the-art equipment.
Dr. Fuerst is a shareholder in Laser Eye Associates.
